Kathleen Ann Maury, age 75, of Mankato, MN, died peacefully in her sleep on July 18, 2017.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Old Main Village, 301 South Fifth Street in Mankato on Thursday July 27th at 11:00 am. In lieu of any gifts or flowers, memorials may be designated to Sister Kinney Institute at Abbott Northwestern.
Kathy was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on February 26, 1941 to Merlin and Loraine Maury. After high school, Kathy went to college and became a teacher. She continued her education and received her Ph.D. in math. Kathy loved to teach. During her career, she taught students from kindergarten to graduate students. Kathy's desire was for all to learn and understand. Her passion was to help every student have the opportunity to be successful and continue their education.
Kathy loved her cats, enjoyed traveling, doing puzzles of many types, spending time with her friends and family, and knitting with her Twisted Stitchers group at Old Main Village. Kathy was spunky and loved life. Above all, Kathy had a big heart. She was kind and generous. Her daughter, Kathryn said it best, "She was open-hearted, fiercely independent and wicked smart."
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Merlin and Loraine Maury. She is survived by her brother Michael R. Maury (Elma), niece Michelle Maury, nephew Michael J. Maury (Jennifer), and great nephews Michael C. and Joshua, and also by her daughter, Kathryn L. White (Sue Hobza), granddaughter Eleanor Grace Ravenwhite, and grandson Mateo Hobza. Kathy is also survived by her very close friend Vicki Roettger and many other dear friends she has made over the years.
