Joyce V. Rock, age 88 of North Mankato, died peacefully on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Monarch Meadows.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Mankato. Burial will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary. Visitation continues one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
Joyce was born September 8, 1929 to Clarence and Bonita (Lorber) King in Muscatine, Iowa. She graduated from Muscatine High School. Joyce was united in marriage to Merle Rock on May 6, 1949 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Muscatine. Joyce worked at JCPenny. Joyce and Merle owned and operated the Rainbow Café. Joyce was then a Telephone Operator at MCTC for many years. She was an active member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.
Joyce enjoyed quilting, flower gardening and spending time with her family.
Joyce is survived by her nine children: Dan (Barbara) Rock of Lake Crystal, David (Kay) Rock of Kasota, Michael (Paula) Rock of Cohasset, Theresa (Robert) Altmann of Le Sueur, Janice Sens of Eagle Lake, Timothy (Holly) Rock of Eagle Lake, Andrew (Bertha) Rock of Winnebago, Anthony (Linda) Rock of Cottage Grove, Christopher Rock of Mankato; son-in-law, Doug Iddings of Waverly; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; brother, James (Marilyn) King of Muscatine, Iowa.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle in 2006; two daughters, Sue Iddings and Patty Rock; and brother, Ronny King.
