Joyce's Story

Joyce M. Edwards (Knoss), age 98, passed away on August 24 at Laurels Edge of Mankato.
Joyce was a lifelong resident of Mankato. She was married to William F. Edwards. Together they raised 4 children. She was an employee of St Josephs Hospital as a labor and delivery nurse for 45+ years. After her retirement she participated in the neighborhood block nurse program.
Joyce was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She was involved in the womens group, rummage sale and volunteered in the office.
Joyce enjoyed many things in life. She camped, hunted and fished with her husband. Later they bought and sold antiques at many flea markets. She loved the beautiful depression glassworks and had a fondness for swans. She became known as the swan lady due to her collection of 100s of swans. She loved to do needlework, sewing and crafts. She enjoyed the holidays and festively decorated her home each season.
Joyce is survived by her son, Jerauld (Jerry) and his wife Beatrice of Mankato, daughters, Linda Erdman and her husband Warren, of Fort Myers, Florida, Jane Staples and her husband Ron of Mankato. She had 6 grandsons,2 granddaughters, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. She has 2 surviving sisters, Norma Footh, Rochester, MN and Joann Prosser, San Antonio, Texas.
She was preceded in death by husband, 1 sister, 4 brothers, son John and his wife, Linda, son-in-law Mike Lang and 3 grandsons.
The family expresses a special thank you to staff of Laurels Edge and Mayo Hospice.
Visitation will be held 5-7 pm at Woodland Hills on Sunday, August 27. Services will be held at Centenary UM Church on Monday at 10:30 am. There will be a visitation 1 hour prior to services. Lunch will be served , followed by burial at Woodland Hills.
