Jeanine Kusy, age 75, of Mankato, MN, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
A memorial service and gathering for friends and family will be held on Sunday, August 6, at 2:30 PM, at the Mankato Eagles Club. Lunch will follow the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Mayo Clinic Hospice. Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato assisted with arrangements.
As per her wish, her body was donated to the Colorado Mesa University Forensic Investigation Research Station. Her interest in public service continues on.
Jeanine Marie was born on October 25, 1941, to Clayton and Lucille Nelson (Jenson) in Albert Lea, MN. Jeanine graduated from St. Ansgar, Iowa, in 1959. After graduation, she worked as a teller at the First National Bank in Albert Lea, MN.
On February 14, 1961, she married Frank Kusy at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Frank and Jeanine have two children, Karen Kay and Kris Edward.
Jeanine volunteered for many years as a victims advocate in Blue Earth County. Her dedication was recognized with the presentation of the Jefferson Award for Excellence in Public Service.
She is survived by her husband, Frank, of Mankato; daughter, Karen Kusy of Monument, CO, son Kris Kusy of Hastings, MN; grandson Greg Luebbe of Colorado Spring, CO; granddaughter Kristine Luebbe of Monument, CO; sisters Linda (Robert) Rone of Long Prairie, MN, and Lori (Alan) Callister of West Concord, MN; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
