James "Jim"'s Story
James Clay "Jim" Kettwig, 86, passed away on Nov. 18 at Pathstone Living. A celebration of Jim's life will be held in the spring. Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato is assisting with arrangements.
Jim was born June 7, 1931 in Britton, S.D. to Carl and Pearl (Clay) Kettwig. He graduated from Canton High School in 1949. He was united in marriage to Patricia A. (Willis) Kettwig on September 12th 1954. Together they had one son James Randall Kettwig. They divorced and Jim later remarried.
Jim is survived by his one and only son James (Randy) and his wife Kathy Kettwig of Owatonna MN and his three grandchildren Melissa (Matthew) Knutson, Jake and (Debbi) Kettwig both of Burnsville, MN, Kristen and (Nick) Cuvelier of Calgary AB Canada, and also six great grandchildren, Bennett, Grant, Jack Knutson all from Burnsville, MN and Henrik, Theodor and Leighton Cuvelier of Calgary AB Canada.
My father and I enjoyed many years of fishing walleye on the great Missouri River in Chamberlain South Dakota not to mention many of the lakes in northern MN. His other great love of the outdoors was to hunt pheasants around the area of Bridgewater to Kennebec South Dakota. We had many conversations regarding his terrific knowledge of investing in the stock market through the years just to see who would have made the most money had we bought all of the stocks we talked about!
Jim was a long time employee of the Chesley Company in Sioux Falls South Dakota, and he completed his career and retired from the Chesley Co. from the trucking business in Mankato, MN.
Jim was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia Kettwig, parents Carl and Pearl Kettwig, Brother Duane (Tim) Kettwig and sister in law Mildred Kettwig, Tacoma WA.
Jim will be forever remembered for his great story telling and his quick wit that was enjoyed by many. May he rest in peace.
