James "Jim" Andersen, age 88 previously of Mankato passed away at his home in Phoenix, Arizona on May 27th, 2018.

Son of Harvey and Pauline "Dolly" Andersen, Jim graduated from Mankato High, and Mankato State College. After time with the US Army and Wear Ever, in 1964 he and his wife Donna opened Jim's Sporting Goods, and in 1968 he joined his Dad in ownership of Skihaven expanding the ski area and adding snowmaking.

Jim loved the sporting goods and ski business, however his Greatest Joy during 27 years in business came from the lifelong friendships developed with his wonderful customers, and incredible employees.

Jim worked tirelessly to develop positive activities for kids bringing ski programs to over 200 schools, recognizing kids in his "The Scoop" Newspaper, Greg Severson Ski Races, Jim's Sports Teams, Mankato Ski Club and other initiatives... "Ski Shack" TV Show, Golf Range and a Footwear Company.

In 2004 Jim and Donna moved to Phoenix to be close to their children.

He is survived by his wife, Donna, daughter Sheree Andersen, son Stein Andersen (his wife Amanda and daughter Teghan), and extended family.
