Herbert "Bert" Bode, 85, of Courtland died Saturday, June 3, 2017 at his home.
Funeral service will be 11 AM Friday, June 9, at Hosanna Lutheran Church at 105 Hosanna Dr. in Mankato with Pastor Dennis Heiden officiating. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in rural Courtland with full military honors being conducted by the Nicollet American Legion Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 4 - 7 PM Thursday and 10 - 11 AM Friday at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato.
The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is handling the arrangements.

Bert is survived by his wife, Beverly Bode of Courtland; daughters, Heidi (Jon) Zimmerman of Savage, Wendy (Phil) Holmin of Rosemount; a son, Todd Bode of Courtland; grandchildren, Jake Zimmerman, Zach Zimmerman, Tara Holmin, Nick Holmin, Brayden Bode, Brianna Bode; a sister, Elnor Bollum of Goodhue; a sister-in-law, Barb Holisky of St. Paul; brothers-in-law, Karl Lieske of Henderson and Donald Wolff of Glencoe; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his sisters, Elvira Muesing and Evelyn Lieske.
Herbert Henry Bode was born February 24, 1932 in rural Courtland to Herbert F. and Alma (Hulke) Bode. He was baptized on March 13,1932 and confirmed on April 14,1946 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a 1950 graduate of Nicollet High School. Bert served in the U.S. Army from 1953 - 1955 in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Beverly Wolff December 27, 1960 at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe. After marriage, they farmed his parents farm in rural Courtland, where they raised their three children. Bert was a 4-H Leader, and was a board member of Twin Dairies, Nicollet County Pork Producers, Tri-County Fair Board, and also held various positions at Immanuel Lutheran Church and Hosanna Lutheran Church. Bert has also been involved in the Acres for Camp Omega program for the past 20+ years. He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying in his younger years, but his true love was his family and farming.
