Harriet Mae Biedscheid, 91, passed away on December 23, 2017 in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was born May 25, 1926 in Mankato, Minnesota to Roy and Elsie Kelly. Harriet graduated from the Good Counsel Academy in Mankato in 1944 and went on to attend the College of St. Theresa for two years. The knowledge and skills she gained in college landed her a position as an executive secretary at the Rural Electric Association in Mankato where she worked for 20 years. Harriet married Harold Biedscheid on October 23, 1954 and they enjoyed 52 years together. They moved from Mankato to Great Falls, Montana in 1968 and called it home for the rest of their days.
Harriet was always on the go being active in her parish, Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church that later became Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She was involved in PTA while her boys were in school and later, continued her support of education by working with students in an after-school reading program. She spent four years as a docent at the C. M. Russell museum greeting and guiding guests and later shifted her focus to supporting patients in Hospice. She was both an office volunteer and a warm, comforting friend to patients facing the most challenging time of their lives. If you didn't see her at the church, the school, the museum or at Hospice, she was probably playing bridge. She played with multiple groups and if she was with her regular partner, she was substituting for someone else. She was a stranger to no one and a friend to everyone she met.
Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Harold), and granddaughter Allie. She is survived by her sister, Shirley Edwin of Great Falls, two sons: Rick Biedscheid (Amy) of Mukilteo, Washington and Tom Biedscheid (Suzanne) of Fort Collins, Colorado. Grandchildren: Nick, Sara, Luke, Hanna, Zack, Jenna and Mollie. Numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be announced at a later date.
