Fred's Story

Fred H. Kachelmyer died at his home in Eureka Springs, AR on Dec. 21, 2017. Fred was born in Mankato, MN on April 5, 1927. He graduated from Rapidan High School. He served in the U.S Navy from 1945-1946 and the U.S. Army from 1950-1952.
He worked as an auto mechanic and later as a telegraph and interlocking tower operater for the Milwaukee Railroad in Mankato. He also farmed and raised cattle in rural Good Thunder.
He married Shirley Rausch in 1949. They farmed and raised 3 sons together and were later divorced.
He married Elaine Supinski in 1986 and retired in Arkansas in 1987 where he remained until his death.
He is survived by his wife Elaine, sons Lyle (Linda) of Ottertail, MN, Alan (Karen) of Bedford, MA, and John (Kathleen) of rural Good Thunder, 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
