Frances A. Lorentz, age 88 of Mankato, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Laurels Peak Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.
A Celebration of Frances Life will be Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 11 A.M. at Woodland Hills Chapel in Mankato, with Pastor Mike Omtvedt officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Following services Fran's Family invites everyone for food and fellowship at North Links Golf Course 41553 520th St. North Mankato.
The Lorentz Family will greet friends on Tuesday afternoon from 4 to 7 P.M. at Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato, with a prayer service at 7 P.M. and will continue on Wednesday morning one hour prior to services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred.
Frances Ann was born on February 14, 1929 to Bernard and Anna (Schacherer) McGuire in Richardton, North Dakota. On October 2, 1949 she was united in marriage to Harvey J. Lorentz at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. Fran and Harvey raised their family and resided in North Mankato their entire married life. For many years Fran was the owner of Call In Chef Catering and was one of the best chefs in the Mankato area. She had a loving heart and used her cooking skills to feed everyone. Fran loved her family very much. She enjoyed reading books and writing poetry when she had time. Fran also had a passion for horses and horseback riding. She was a lifetime friend of Bill W. Fran was also a lifetime member of the VFW Post #950 Auxiliary of Mankato.
She is survived by her 5 daughters; Patsy (Jim) Bergstrom of Eagle Lake, Barbara (Darold) Broitzman of Mankato, Cathy (Jim) Swartout of Lake Crystal, Susie (special friend Dale Arndt) Helling of Mankato, and Laurie (Frank) Neagle of Madelia; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great - great grandson; best friend and lifetime companion, Jon P. Provost of North Mankato; 2 sisters, Marge Sweiger of Mankato, and Mary (Mike) Hiniker of Rapidan; 2 brothers, Bernie McGuire of St. Peter, and Jim (Ann) McGuire of Mankato; 3 sisters-in-law, LaVone Johnson of Winthrop, Elaine "Pete" Spoors of Eagle Lake, and Eleanor (Don) Solem of Florida; by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harvey J. Lorentz on October 11, 1984; granddaughters, Sarah, Suzanne and Teresa Swartout; grandson, Harvey Ball.
