Douglas's Story

Douglas Claire Browne was born in Mankato, January 11, 1929 to Gerold Weir Browne and Maurine (Heiser) Browne. He died February 17, 2017 at Pathstone Living, Mankato.
Celebration of life for Douglas Browne will be held at Morrison Aral VFW 1900 N. Riverfront Drive, Mankato from 10:30-12:30 on Saturday June 3rd. Burial will be held at Glenwood Cemetery at 1 PM.
Doug lived his entire life in the Mankato, North Mankato area. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1946. He was a proud Navy Veteran, serving from 1950-1954. Doug was an airplane engine Machanic stationed in Key West and Newfoundland. He worked many years as a surveyor for Blue Earth County Highway Department. After retirement from the Highway Department he operated a woodworking and refinishing business out of his home.
Doug loved children, reading the Mankato Free Press and spending time with friends and family. His dry sense of humor and quick wit never left him.
Doug will be missed by his nieces Suzette Johnson and Elaine (Brett) Sundell; nephews Lee (Patti) Browne and Michael Browne and many great nieces and nephews. His caretaker "family" Krissy Rodriguez, Jenny Stammereilers, Dawn Erwin and her children Taylor and Tyler Adams, Daniel Stammereilers and special friend Tim Rykhus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and their spouses; Geraldine (Bob) Baumgartner, Elaine, JoAnn (Charles) Johnson, Thomas (Rita) Browne, George; nephew Richard Baumgartner and close friends/family Warren and Bart Stammereilers.
