One of the sweetest women we know was called home to be with her Lord Jesus. On January 2, 2018, Doris Erna (Johnson) Moeri passed away from a brief illness, after seeing in the new year with her children.
Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Mankato. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:30 p.m., Friday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Mankato. Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the donor's choice.
Doris was born September 20, 1922, in Mankato, Minnesota to Victor and Emma (Blatterman) Johnson. She was a lifelong resident of the Mankato area and a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mankato. After a short time in St. Paul during the 1940s, she returned to Mankato where she met the love of her life, Raymond J. Moeri. The two were married in June 1952, and together worked the family farm in Lime Township for 56 years. They were blessed with three children, Joan, LuAnn, and Kevin. She enjoyed raising her children, the farm, gardening, pets, friends, and painting. As recently as 2016, some of her paintings were part of a juried exhibit at the Stevens County Historical Society.
Doris is survived by her children, Joanna Moeri Johnson, Kevin R. Moeri, and LuAnn J. Friedrichs and her husband, Karl; four grandchildren, Glenn Moeri Johnson, Kate E. (Friedrichs) Sauers and her husband, Rob, MacKenzie O. Friedrichs and his wife Jaclyn (Beekman), Meredith E. Friedrichs and significant other, Shawn; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Sauers, Elliot Friedrichs and Lucy Friedrichs; her sister-in-law Jean Moeri, and by nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; infant daughter, Janet; her sister, Elaine (Johnson) Dietl and her husband Stanley Dietl; her brother, Stanley Johnson and his wife, Dorothy; brother-in-law, Marvin Moeri; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl and Agnes Moeri; nephews, Roger Moeri and Loren Moeri.
May we all be as sweet, kind, and tenderhearted as Doris, as we await the coming of our Lord.
