Dean R. Meurer, age 95 of Mankato, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.
A Celebration of Dean's Life will be Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11 A.M. at Woodland Hills Chapel in Mankato. Interment with military honors will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Woodland Hills Funeral Home.
Dean Ralph was born on March 9, 1922 in Mankato, Minnesota. He graduated from Rapidan High School. On November 4, 1942 he enlisted in the United States Army and was awarded 5 Bronze Battle Stars and 3 Overseas Services Bars for his service, and was honorably discharged on October 23, 1945. After returning from military service he was united in marriage to Margie Anderson on December 29, 1945 in Mankato, Minnesota. For many years Dean was employed at Honeymead in Mankato as a Laboratory Technician until his retirement in 1987. He enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, fishing, and spending time at his cabin on Duck Lake with family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters, Victoria Meurer of Mankato and Deborah (James) Haberkorn of Eagan; 6 grandchildren, Russell (Donna) Wetzel, Warren (Trina) Wetzel, Cassandra (Richard) Reasor, Christopher (Denise) Wetzel, Brian Haberkorn and Bradley Haberkorn; 12 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; brother, Bob (Mary) Meurer of Mankato; sister, Dorothy (Duane) Ziegler of Mankato; by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margie on September 18, 1999; and 5 sisters.
