David Roberts age 61, of Madelia, MN died on April 16, 2017, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, MN.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel and will continue on Thursday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church-Madelia.
Service will be held at the United Methodist Church -Madelia, on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 11:00 am.
The clergy will be Pastor Daniel Dempster. Interment will be at the Minneopa Cemetery- near Mankato, MN.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel in Madelia. On line condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.
David R. Roberts was born to Kendall and Marion Roberts on July 24, 1955. He grew up in Madelia, MN and graduated from Madelia High School in 1973. After graduating high school, David studied agriculture at Vo-Tech in Mankato and worked as a farmer all of his life. David married Alice Diekman on January 4, 1975 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, MN. The couple was blessed with two children, Craig and Lisa. David was active in FFA and 4H throughout his childhood and continued to be involved with his children as well. He was a very loving and supportive father and encouraged his children in all their interests. David loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting deer every fall season. He and wife, Alice enjoyed traveling and together took several cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean. David was a loving grandfather who cherished his grandchildren and looked forward to every visit with them. David truly prized his family and extended family and will be truly missed by all whom he loved so dearly.
David is survived by his wife, Alice Roberts; daughter, Lisa (Nathan) Hagen; grandchildren, Kyle, Kevin and Jacob Roberts, Abigail, Joshua, James, Toby, Levi, Emma and Anabella Hagen; siblings, Pat Etter, Steven (Marvel) Roberts, Pam (Roger) Barnlund; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Craig Roberts; parents, Kendall and Marion Roberts; brothers-in-law, John Etter, Douglas Johnson, and nephew, Jason Koch.
