Arlyn Arthur Kline

Arlyn Arthur Kline Arlyn Arthur Kline was born on May 25, 1932 in Laona, WI, to Rose and Walter Kline. He graduated from Crandon High School in 1950, and WI State College at Stevens Point in 1954. After serving two years in the U.S. Army, Arlyn taught Chemistry and Earth Science in Rosholt, Spencer, and Stanley, WI, while completing his Master's and Specialist's Degrees in Science Education. Upon completing his Doctorate in Environmental Education in 1969 at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Arlyn taught at Mankato State University, where he initiated a graduate program for K-12 teachers in Environmental Education. After being named to numerous State boards and committees, including the State of MN Science Education Advisory Committee and the State of MN Energy Education Board, he was named the MN Environmental Educator of the Year in 1986.

Arlyn and his wife Gerrie Kline, both retired from MSU in 1987 to spend summers in Crandon, WI, and winters in Lake Havasu, AZ. In 2011 they moved to Mission Viejo, CA, where Arlyn passed away on August 31, 2018.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gerrie, two daughters and their husbands, Karen (Chebel) Kline-Mina, and Kathleen (Chris) Bakke, three beloved grandchildren and their wives, Tommy (Alyssa) Mina, Liam (Amy) Mina, and CJ (Julia) Bakke, two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Kline and Roberta Broeren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Donald Kline, and his sister Elayne (Gwinn) Johnson. Arlyn will be fondly remembered by many for his love of his family, trout fishing, grouse hunting and watching the Green Bay Packers.
