Aloysius "Allie" Henry Bisch, 94, of Mankato, died Sunday, August 5, 2018, at Oaklawn Healthcare Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am, Friday, August 10, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Visitation 5-7pm, Thursday, August 9, 2018, at Mankato Mortuary (1001 N. Riverfront Drive, Mankato) and also one hour prior to the Mass at church. Burial with military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Allie was born December 9, 1923, in Mankato to John and Helena (Piper) Bisch. After graduating from Cleveland High School in 1941, Allie joined the United States Army on November 27, 1944. He served as a rifleman during World War II and was honorably discharged on July 21, 1946. On October 20, 1956, he was united in marriage to Clarine Holmes at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. Allie served as a church usher for over 61 years at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion and the WWII Last Man's Club.
Allie began his career as a truck driver shortly after being discharged from the Army. First, as a milk truck driver for Land O' Lakes. He worked for KMX for many years, Carney Insulation, and retired from Crysteel Manufacturing in 1990. Throughout his career, he logged over 4 million miles across 48 states and Canada. In addition to his trucking career, Allie farmed until 1966. In his spare time, Allie enjoyed walking, socializing with friends over coffee, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Clarine Bisch of Mankato; daughter, Barb (Tim) Wendlandt of Garden City and their children, Andrew (Pam) Wendlandt, Brandon (fiancée Erica) Wendlandt, Rachel Wendlandt, and Sarah Wendlandt; daughter, Bonnie (Dennis) Steel of Mankato and their children, Megan (Matt) Sieberg and Melissa Steel; daughter, Carri Lynn (Greg) Borchert of St. Peter and their children, Brett (Sarah) Borchert and Heather Borchert; great-grandchildren, Zoey Wendlandt and Winston Borchert; brother, Lawrence Bisch of St. Paul; sister, Mary (Earl) Hoppe of Montana; and brother-in-law, Earl (Rita) Holmes of Mankato.
Allie was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Harold, Robert, Stanley, and Loretta Curran; and infant granddaughter, Erica Borchert.
